113
The 113 Restoration Project in Minersville, Pennsylvania is the most important train for me. This is the first Steam Locomotive I saw working up close and it is also the inspiration for this collection. I took pictures of this train for couple years. First I thought it was abandoned and was just a monument, I was wrong. This is a Restoration project where a group of very passionate people go and do all the proper maintenance to make sure this amazing machine is still in working conditions. Some of them do this as a voluntary job. This Locomotive was created in 1923 and as for the day of this capture was almost 100 years being one of the oldest locomotives around. That day I finally saw 113 working and they take their time to show me everything about the locomotive. Today I can say this is a mark on my captures bucket list.
2818
The New York City Subway in motion. This is a place full of life where you can find all kinds of people, all of them in their own vibe, in their own world.
Norfolk Train Yard
Spending time looking at a train yard makes me think of each of those rail wagons and everything they carry. All the years of service, taking stories from one place to another like the work of the hands behind each load, even the graffiti that tells stories of their respective artists. It is definitely a place where I want to spend time again imagining and connecting with the views this place provides me.
Clock Out
At the end of a long working day, we all want to go home, but for this man, leaving everything as new was a priority. It is impressive to see how many of these workers keep these machines last for so many years thanks to their maintenance. I remember seeing that man pick up and clean that machine for a long time until everything was spotless for his next day at work. He along with his colleagues do an excellent job with it and that is why people like me can spend hours admiring these amazing machines.
STOP LISTEN LOOK
STOP, LISTEN, LOOK. How important it is in our daily lives to stop, listen and look to connect with everything around us, to remember what we have achieved, to see where we have arrived. Sometimes we go through life so fast that we don't take the time to stop at those important moments and enjoy them, often in our rush they go unnoticed.
Listening will always lead us to appreciate, to enjoying our place, our position in life, we should take more time to listening to the sound of the city, the sweet singing of a bird, the rain falling, our favorite song, the noise of the train passing by, the sounds of life. Listening makes us feel and connect with where we are, with our environment. Looking around us is very powerful, the sky full of clouds, a very warm sunset, birds, butterflies, snow falling, empty rails, is important to looking at the small details that are often in front of us and by not taking the time to look, we lost them. We live surrounded by beauty, you just have to stop, listen and look.
On Rails
Life on rails shows us to never lose sight of our goal. No matter how hard times gets, the train won’t stop until it reaches its destination.
Hardwork
working on a steam train is hard work. I am surprised with the commitment of these workers to make it possible for these machines to go onto the tracks until these times. Doing this work is an ongoing process while the train is active, filling the boiler with fresh coal and filling its water tanks at stops. When I saw them working, I noticed that just like me with my camera, they are very proud and passionate about their work.
475
No. 475 Locomotive was built in June 1906 and is still working. It's impressive to see this old but solid piece of art moving around. How many stories have been carried by it up to this date?
Movement
The passage of the train is like the passage of life or life is like the passage of the train both analogies apply. Sometimes we miss a stop, sometimes we don't realize that our train is gone, but it's a matter of time before another train opens the door for you and you can get back on your way.
Port Clinton
I went to see how the Port Clinton Station works, and I should say is incredible to see how amazing this industry is. It helps a lot of other industries. Following the rails help me see all the factories and amazing places where all this train wagons go. Is this transportation system the most helpful in average compared to others? I definitely not know this answer but in my opinion, is the most trustworthy. This kind of questions are the ones that comes into my mind all the time. Meanwhile I sit and watch these people doing their amazing job.
Snow and Steam
"Snow and Steam" is a photograph that I, have been dreaming of capturing for 4 years. The subject of the photograph is the train 113, which holds a special significance for me as it was the train that sparked my passion for capturing trains on camera. I have been wanting to capture this train for 4 years, specifically in the snow. The photograph captures the train chugging through a snowy landscape, with plumes of steam adding a sense of movement and energy to the scene. For me, this photograph represents the culmination of years of hard work and determination. The train 113 only moves once a year and by pure coincidence, the only weekend it moves it snowed. This allowed me to not only capture the train in the snow, but also in motion. The photograph is a beautiful blend of motion and stillness, as the steam train moves through the frame while the snowflakes frozen in time. This photograph is a testament to my skill as a photographer and my patience and determination to achieve my goal. This photograph is a true masterpiece that celebrates the power of nature and the enduring spirit of humanity.
